Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster: a (fresh) wind in the GT family

The Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is the roofless version of the current sportiest car with a three-pointed star. Two derivatives will be available, namely the entry-level (AMG GT Roadster) with 476 hp and the more powerful (GT C Roadster) with 557 hp. At the same time, this will be the most powerful version of the Roadster, which has many technical features of the AMG GT R coupe, the most powerful member of the GT family, which debuted recently.

Mercedes will bring to the Paris Motor Show roofless annex model Mercedes-AMG GT, namely the model Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster and Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster. They have both with a 4-liter V8 biturbo engine, except that he can handle the first one 476 hp (350 kW, maximum torque 630 Nm), and the power unit of the more powerful derivative can squeeze out 557 hp or 410 kW, which is only 20 kW less than the champion of the GT class AMG GT R (maximum torque 680 Nm). The GT C rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and the slightly less powerful version needs 4 seconds for this. And while the latter is capable of speeds of up to 302 km/h, the GT C's meter stops at 316 km/h.

The Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster has borrowed a lot of sporting know-how from the AMG GT R model. Among others steering the rear pair of wheels (these change the angle and thus help when driving through turns) and electronic differential lock on the last prema that completes it AMG Ride Control sports suspension. The similarity is also reflected in the muscular appearance and superior standard equipment. The power is transferred to the rear wheels by an adapted AMG Speedshift DCT 7 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, which boasts shorter ratios (only the seventh is longer). They are available four driving modes (from comfortable to bouncy and as you choose), namely C (Comfort), S (Sports), S+ (Sports Plus) and I (Individual).


If that's not enough for you, you can for the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster model (it also has a built-in lithium-ion battery) you select a package Ducks, which has gearbox tailored for the race track, and the sound from the exhaust pipes has also been refined. The roof is soft and three-layered (available in beige, black and red), and aluminum, magnesium and steel flow through the frame, ensuring that the car's center of gravity remains on the ground. It unfolds in 11 seconds, and the driver can close and open it up to a speed of 50 km/h. The sound in the two-seat passenger cabin is provided by a unique surround sound system Burmester, and known for driving the car itself variable exhaust system, which creates a truly unique sporty engine sound. Roofless versions of the Mercedes-AMG GT model will roll into showrooms in the fall of 2017. The price remains unknown for now.
