Mercedes-Benz will partner with Google in a new initiative aimed at creating an exceptional next-generation digital luxury car experience. The German automaker will use new in-car data and navigation capabilities from Google Maps to develop a custom navigation system. This collaboration will enable Mercedes to offer customers a highly sophisticated driving experience that combines Google's reliable and trusted information with the brand's luxury touch. The partnership also includes exploring further collaboration using Google's artificial intelligence, data and open infrastructure solutions.

Upcoming operating system Mercedes-Benz (MB.OS) will provide drivers with easy-to-use navigation functions with outstanding graphics on the car's high-definition screen. New features include real-time traffic information and prediction, automatic rerouting and YouTube integration into the Mercedes-Benz infotainment system. Mercedes will also use Google Maps data to enable driving assistance features such as automatically adjusting speed before junctions, roundabouts or bends.

Mercedes also plans to use Google Cloud's fast and efficient data processing platform to analyze fleet data, as well as Google's open infrastructure for innovation and safe customization.

“We invite only the best partners to improve our operating system and add to the Mercedes-Benz user experience. Google has been a leader in maps and navigation for many years. With our strategic partnership, we are excited to create unique services and raise the level of comfort for our customers," said Ola Källenius, Chief Executive Officer Mercedes-Benz.

This initiative will not only help enrich the driving experience, but also help Mercedes-Benz's efforts to sustain and advance autonomous driving technology. The new navigation features will be available to customers starting today in all vehicles with the latest generation of MBUX in applicable markets.
