Checkered seats, Walkman-era colors and 443 horsepower under the hood – the Mercedes G-Class is back in the 80s, but only for those who can afford it. And there are only 460 of them. This is the series - Mercedes G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s.

If there's a car that can carry nostalgia with style, it's the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s. But be careful – this is not another fashionable retro outing. It is a carefully tailored edition that captures with incredible precision the spirit of the first generation G-Class (W460), born in the eighties. The car that conquered mountain paths back then, conquers hearts today – but only in a limited series 460 copies.

This is Mercedes' response to the mass enthusiasm surrounding last year's production of the 500,000th G-Class. The love was so strong that they said: "Let it be!" And a four-wheeled time machine was created, in which memories are ridden.

Mercedes G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s Color Palette That Only Someone Who's Ever Listened to a Cassette Can Understand

It all starts with the colors. Not flashy, not digitally dazzling – but genuinely nostalgic. Agave Green It is earthy green with the scent of pine trees and muddy paths, Cream Solid is an elegant, almost aristocratic choice for the urban adventurer, while Colorado Beige It reminds me of old safari photos, yellowed by time and the sun. This! Mercedes G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s!

Each of these colors is supported by brutal details in Night Black Magno – from the front grille to the fenders and underbody protection. The engine cover is dominated by historic Mercedes emblem, as if it were taken off a garage door from 1983. On the back? An authentic metal “Mercedes-Benz” badge from the 1980s. Make no mistake – this is not a reconstruction, this is a renaissance.

Checkered seats, a mountain map and Burmester. All in the same sentence.

Step inside the Mercedes G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s and the time jump is complete. The seats are upholstered in Dove Grey Plaid Fabric, which Mercedes literally pulled from its archives. But don't let the vintage look fool you - here are some huge digital screen, next-generation navigation, Burmester 3D sound system and, of course wireless Apple CarPlay.

A sign greets you on the passenger's handle “STRONGER THAN THE 1980s”, and the thresholds are decorated with topographic map of Schöckl mountain, the legendary proving ground above Graz, where every G-Class proves its worth. You will find a badge next to the B-pillar “Schöckl Proved” in a retro design – a detail that will make even the most cold-blooded collector tremble with excitement.

Under the retro hood – modern mechanics without compromise

Although everything around it screams “old school”, under the hood lies modern technological poetry. Buyers can choose between two versions: G450d with a diesel six-cylinder or a brutally powerful G 500 with a 3.0-liter turbo petrol engine.

The G 500 serves with 443 hp (330 kW) and 560 Nm of torque (413 lb-ft), which catapults him to a hundred in 5.3 seconds – which is surprisingly fast for a vehicle that is as tall as two teenage heads. In both cases, the power is transmitted 9-speed automatic transmission, with the support of all three differential locks and the legendary 4MATIC drive.

So if you expect this retro beauty to stay on the tarmac, you're sorely mistaken. It's still a G – and G knows no bounds.

Why should we have one? Because there are only 460 of them.

We're talking about a car that's not just a vehicle - it's a statement. A collector's item. A conversation piece at every stop. Price? Starting at 160.055 €, but every euro is worth its moment on the road, in the garage or in the collector's display case. There is no room for rationality in this issue - it is about emotions, aesthetics, history and an unforgettable experience.

And yes, if you're wondering what "STRONGER THAN THE 1980s" means, let us tell you: it means you're ready for more than just a ride. You're ready for life with a car that has stood the test of time - and even improved upon it in the process.
