TRADITIONAL SPAIN Spain is a Mediterranean country famous for its excellent wine, healthy and simple food and joy of life. To try it all, we headed to Meson Don Felipe – and we were not disappointed. The menu with Spanish specialties and a variety of tapas is rich, but first we asked the staff to explain what tapas is. Tapas offer a wide selection of smaller dishes. The word "tapa" comes from the Spanish term "tapar", which means to cover. The original tapas was a slice of meat or cheese placed on top of a glass of wine to prevent flies from falling into it. Farmers drank a glass in the company of friends in local wine cellars, which were called "bodegas". Some wineries became famous for the snacks they offered there. Thus, the portions became larger and larger, and other types of tapas developed from fish, meat and vegetable tapas over time. When you visit the restaurant Meson Don Felipe, you should definitely try them. An excellent fish tapas is shark in a cream sauce with almonds or octopus with red pepper. If you're a vegetable lover, try the Roasted Mixed Vegetables with Sherry or the Stuffed Eggplant with Vegetables, Couscous and Cheese. For "meat eaters" they offer roast beef with chili and beans, pork with zucchini and rosemary, and much more. The restaurant is famous for its Spanish specialties, so they like to recommend to their guests a Spanish seafood dish, grouper with lemon risotto or salmon with sparkling wine and red cabbage. Of course, they also prepare paella, the most famous Spanish dish, named after the vessel in which it is prepared. The main ingredients are rice, saffron, olive oil and sweet paprika, and different ingredients are then added to the base in different regions. You can try traditional Spanish risotto with seafood, vegetables or chicken. In addition to the main dishes, you can also choose from a variety of starters, salads, soups and desserts. They offer lunch every day for 1,450 tolars. You can choose from three starters (carrot soup, squid with spinach, salad with chicken), three main courses (medallions in cream sauce, spaghetti with tomatoes and mushrooms, mussels with leek) and three desserts (yogurt cake, fried apples with honey, vanilla cream). If you visit the restaurant in the evening, you can experience real flamenco live, with Puerto Baco dancers, guitar, sangria, friendly staff and positive energy. So for every taste.
