Who would have thought that MG, a brand that once made classic British cars, would introduce an electric sports car that could compete with the best? Well, if you predicted this in 2021, when MG first revealed the MG Cyberster concept, then you deserve the award for the best fortune-telling skills!
MG is MG Cyberster presented at the car show in Chengdu in China and revealed some very interesting technical specifications. At the heart of this two-seater sports car are two electric motors that together produce incredible 536 horsepower and 535 lb-ft of torque (725 NM) That's enough power to accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 60 mph) in just 3.2 seconds. If that's not impressive enough, we don't know what is!
Of course, like any electric car, the Cyberster needs a battery. This car boasts a 77 kWh battery that allows a range of up to 360 miles (about 580 km). However, this figure is measured according to China's CLTC test cycle, so it may be slightly lower in reality. But hey, who needs reality when we have such impressive numbers?
And if you think that's all MG has to offer, you're wrong! The Cyberster weighs 4,376 pounds (about 1,986 kg) and measures 178.5 inches (about 453 cm) in length, 75.31 inches (about 191 cm) in width and 52.32 inches (about 133 cm) in height. And yes, it also has scissor doors, because why not?
MG also plans to sell a slightly lighter version with rear-wheel drive and a single engine that produces more than 300 horsepower. This version will have a smaller battery with a capacity of 64 kWh and a range of 323 miles (about 520 km).
And if you're wondering about the price, well, that's still a mystery. However, it is rumored to cost between $33,000 and $37,000 in China, which is an incredibly low price for an electric sports car. It will probably be more expensive in other countries, but who knows?
