The Migrant Film Festival 2020 will take place from September 7 to 10, and will be opened by the Slovenian documentary Videti El Aaiun (2019).
Since 2010, Slovenian philanthropy has been commemorating World Refugee Day (June 20) with Migrant Film Festival. Due to the changed situation, this year's festival will take place from September 7 to 10 in Ljubljana and other places, and will highlight current stories related to asylum policies, migration and refugees.
The festival brings the stories of many who are forced to leave their homes, those who are often forgotten and rarely heard. With film stories and guest contributions, they draw attention to the problematic nature of the wall of bureaucracy, security discourse, racism and xenophobia, which are strengthening and showing their image with wires, blades, walls, camps and deadly policies. This year's stories will tell about decisions to flee, life on the road and (not) accepting refugees. They will emphasize the importance of solidarity between people and the importance of the struggle for the independence of Western Sahara and Palestine.
