The architecture firm Mobius Architekci has created a new sensation, this time it is a round wooden house clad in oak wood, which blends perfectly with the surrounding pine forest in the village of Izabelin, Poland.
At Mobius Architects, led by founder Przemyslaw Olczyk, designed the house to resemble a large piece of tree trunk. The 400 square meter building with an overhanging oval frame blends in with the natural environment due to its shape, material and color palette. The concrete structure is clad in elegant avkujema wood panels, and due to its connection with nature, the house changes depending on the weather, time of day and year.
“Planning the house was seen as 'carving' rooms and cozy, semi-private, glazed alcoves into the wood. As a result, owners can feel like they are constantly walking up a tree. There is a lot of glazing that blurs the boundaries and the freedom or rather the intimacy of communication between nature and architecture." says Olczyki.
A round wooden house is intended to the art lover and collector, so it is not surprising that the interior resembles a private art gallery, sensitive to the beauty of nature and designed in harmony with it. The central atrium, rising high into the sky, brings daylight and a view of the forest into the house. Glazing and natural materials also strengthen the house's connection with the surrounding landscape.
It also hides inside white sculptural staircase, which is itself an artistic element of the building's architecture. The other rooms are characterized by a sophisticated play with natural materials and attention to detail.
