The landscape just outside of Seoul reveals a small settlement of modern weekend houses - bright yellow houses. This was erected to accommodate guests destined for the nearby Morning Calm Botanical Park. The Korean architecture studio Koossino, entrusted with the architectural design, found inspiration in the mysterious statues, the Moai, which make Easter Island a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Located on a hill in the Gapyeong province of Seoul, South Korea, six contemporary Yellow Moai weekend-vacation residences are, like the famous statues, identical in shape and placed side by side. Yellow jewels made by a Korean architecture studio Koossina, stand out in the green landscape, not only because of their asymmetric shapes and vivid colors, but also because of the large glass surfaces that reveal the view into their interior. There, the yellow color reappears on the door, the staircase and the furniture. Thus, it stands out from the white and gray color of the walls and the exterior of the house. Each house has a kitchen on the ground floor leading to a small atrium and swimming pool, while the sleeping area and bathrooms are on the upper level.
