Altrockè is an elegant restaurant and wine bar where you can enjoy gourmet delicacies in the atmosphere of the old town of Ljubljana: either outside, in a narrow stone street, or inside, under the restored red brick ceilings. The menu focuses on the traditional cuisine of Istria and has a diverse range of hot and cold dishes that go well with the extensive wine list, which is not surprising, since the restaurant is run by Matjaž Čok from the Čok wine family, who also takes care of the house olive oil and spirits drinks.

Marley & Me

Although the name of the restaurant almost inevitably brings to mind the romantic comedy of the same name, starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston and the title character, their golden labrador, this is just a strange coincidence. A wonderful little bistro in the old town center of Ljubljana is one of the most popular culinary spots in Ljubljana. With only a handful of tables and its rustic charm, it is one of the most romantic restaurants in town! The menu has a strong Mediterranean influence, with a concise but at the same time diverse selection of salads, pasta, meat and fish dishes and, of course, desserts.

The lovely "neobistro", where chef Bine Volčič and his wife Katarina create, is named after the ubiquitous flower in Yugoslavian times. This alludes to the fusion of nostalgic tradition and modernity, which is also a hallmark of Binet's cooking. Instead of à la carte, there are weekly lunches, and dinner consists of a heavenly menu chosen by the chef. Equally impressive is the wine selection, which is complemented by craft beer made especially for this restaurant and sparkling water from the tap.

Sato Bento

If you haven't managed to watch the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi yet, we highly recommend it. Not only is it one of the better documentaries, but also one of the more inspiring. It tells the story of the sushi master, Jiro Ono, and his famous restaurant with three Michelin stars and 10 seats in the subway tunnel of Tokyo. Sato Bento, hidden in the Ledina center, is not only one of the best Japanese restaurants in Slovenia, but also probably the closest experience to Sukiyabashi Jiru, except that you will pay 25 euros for an omakase dinner with chef Shino Santo (and not 300, as it would be at Jiru) . A reservation is definitely a good idea, unless you have a problem with waiting!

During the warmer months, we can also take advantage of the pleasant nursery hidden in the inner courtyard for dining.
