As much as 40 percent of food ends up in the trash
In some parts of our planet, food has become prestige and even fashion. The richly stocked shelves invite us to many versions of one product and discounts that are hard to pass up. Unfortunately, as much as 40 percent of food ends up nowhere but in the trash.
Experiment in the film: They didn't buy food for six months
Young Canadian documentarians Jen and Grant are in the film Let's not throw food away! (Just Eat It) tackled this very topic, which definitely needs to be talked about more, and investigated the discarded food in stores, on farms and in your own home.
When they saw how much food we throw away, they decided not to buy any more food for six months, but to live only on what they plan to throw away or have already thrown away. They discovered incredible, sometimes shocking things! The film presents the problem without embellishment and offers some useful solutions. Unfortunately, the story is not very different in Slovenia either.
