Midnight Special is a sci-fi drama from critic-favorite director Jeff Nichols that premiered at this year's Berlinale. It is his first studio film, following in the shoes of two independent films Mud and Shelter, with which he also broke into the first league, otherwise this is his fourth film in total.
Midnight Special is a sci-fi drama about single father Roy (Michael Shannon), who has to deal with his eight-year-old son Alton (Jaeden Lieberhe), who has supernatural powers, to go on the run from government organizations that want to take his powers. In hiding his son, he also joins forces with his ex-wife (Kirsten Dunst).

They appear in Midnight Special alongside Shannon and Dunst Adam Driver, Joel Edgerton and Sam Shephard, who leads an extremist religious sect that also wants to get its hands on the talented Alton.
