Kenya Barris moves from television to film with her feature directorial debut, You People. The film explores the complex differences between ethnic backgrounds, social classes and generations after Jonah Hill and Lauren London decide to get engaged. Also starring Eddie Murphy, Nia Long, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny, You People will air on Netflix from January 27, 2023.
The story of a couple and their families who find themselves faced with an exploration of modern love and family dynamics in the midst of conflicting cultures, social expectations and generational differences.
Barris produced and wrote the film with Jonah Hill, who is also set to star in the film alongside a host of other talents. The star-studded cast includes Lauren London, David Duchovny, Nia Long, Sam Jay, Elliot Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Deon Cole, Andrea Savage, Mike Epps, Emily Arlook, Alani La La Anthony, Bryan Greenberg, Julia Louis -Dreyfus and Eddie Murphy.
