Between July 11 and August 3, Kinodvor and Ljubljana Castle invite you to summer movie evenings in the open air, Film under the stars 2019. In the magical atmosphere of the Castle courtyard, a diverse program of film highlights from the past season will take place, as well as six fresh films, which will be shown for the first time publicly presented on the Slovenian screen. As the opening film, they chose Urša Menart's debut Ne bom več luzerka, winner of the best feature film at the Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož.
As every year so far at the festival Movie under the stars 2019 they also present festival hits. Documentary Diego Maradona Asifa Kapadia (Amy) and an autobiographical ode to filmmaking Pain and glory Pedro Almodovar's (Dolor y gloria) premiere straight from the Cannes festival. They will also show the opening film of this year's Cannes festival, a zombie comedy The dead don't die (The Dead Don't Die) by Jim Jarmusch. With Peugeot's preview of the biographical documentary Pavarotti will present a moving and intimate portrait of the legendary tenor and one of the most popular opera singers of all time, Luciano Pavarotti. The pre-premiere will also be on the program White crow (The White Crow), a biographical drama about the great ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev and his defection to the West, directed by the British actor Ralph Fiennes. The film under the stars will conclude on August 3 with the traditional Weekend pre-premiere. This year it will be a rock and roll comedy about music, dreams, friendship and love Yesterday, directed by Danny Boyle (The Poor Millionaire, Trainspotting).
The Film under the Stars program is available on the website kinodvor.org and ljubljanskigrad.si. Movies will be shown every day at 9:30 p.m. They will be broadcast in the original language with Slovenian subtitles; for films whose language is not English, the subtitles will also be in English. In case of rain or bad weather forecast the projection falls away. The replacement screening will take place the next day at 9:30 p.m. in Kinodvor. In case of cancellation of the pre-premiere or special screening, there will be two alternative screenings the next day at Kinodvor, at 19:00 and 21:30.
