When a Californian startup decides to write a new chapter in automotive history, the Mullen FIVE RS is born. With over 1,100 hp and a sub-2-second acceleration, this electric super-SUV aims for the throne among electric sports cars – and Europe as its entry point.
If someone had told you ten years ago that an unknown American startup from Burbank, California, would be building an electric SUV to compete with the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Tesla Model S Plaid – and launching it in Germany for the first time – you would have probably politely told them to take a break. But it’s 2025 and the Mullen FIVE RS is no longer a dream. It’s a fully functional machine, with over 1,100 horsepower, brutal acceleration and a story worth telling.
Mullen Automotive is not the old guard of the automotive industry. In fact, it is anything but. It was born from several acquisitions, visions, and the rather personal stubbornness of David Michery – a businessman who dedicated his life to the music industry, then jumped into cars with the idea that America needed its “new Tesla.” And not just with a battery and big screens – but with a soul.
The FIVE RS is the pinnacle of this philosophy: powerful, electric and designed as an alternative for all those who wanted something more than just silence and practicality.
What is FIVE RS and why is it important?
The Mullen FIVE RS is a high-performance version of the Mullen FIVE electric SUV. What makes it special is not just the shape (which strongly resembles European design taste), but everything that hides under the body:
- Power: more than 1,100 hp (810 kW)
- Acceleration: 0–97 km/h in less than 2 s
- Top speed: 322 km/h (200 mph)
- 800-volt electrical system – enables fast charging and better thermal stability
- Two-way automatic transmission – a rarity among electric vehicles, improves acceleration
- All-wheel drive (AWD)
Although the exact battery capacity has not yet been announced, it is expected to be around 100 kWh, with an approximate range of 483 km (300 miles).
Why Germany?
Why would an American electric super-SUV first land in Germany, a country with the prestige of Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes-AMG? The answer is twofold:
- TUV SÜD certification: Mullen completed battery tests in Munich in May 2025, the first step towards European homologation.
- Partnering with a local expert: Production and quality are handled by Faissner Petermeier Fahrzeugtechnik AG (FPF), a company that has worked with giants like BMW, Piech and Gumpert. If you want credibility, borrow it from the Germans.
When and where?
- December 2025: launch in Germany
- Beginning 2026: expansion to the EU, UAE and South Africa
- Later: America, when the world already knows what FIVE RS means
Conclusion
The Mullen FIVE RS is not just another electric SUV. It's the embodiment of dreams that we usually only hear about on Kickstarter or in some motivational lecture hall. But this time it's reality: over 1,100 hp, 0-60 mph in under 2 seconds, and a sleek SUV that's taking to the roads of Germany, home of the Autobahn, for the first time.
Prices? Not yet announced, but expect to be between $290,000 and $394,000 (around €275,000 – €360,000). It’s not for everyone. But it is for those who want to be among the first to drive the future. And the future is clearly electric – with more gears.
And now? Would you have it? Is it too special?!
If you're among those who think Tesla is already "too mainstream" and want something exclusive - Mullen offers you the American wilderness wrapped in European precision. The next chapter of automotive will not begin in California or Tokyo - it will begin in Germany this December. Will you be there?
