On September 30, the Musicology Barcaffè Sessions concert series began writing its Ljubljana story extremely successfully in Ljubljana's Cvetličarna with a concert by the legendary British acid jazz band Incognito. They continue on November 24, when Robert Glasper, world jazz star, pianist and producer, will perform in Cankarjev dom as part of his tour, on which he performs together with his trio and the extraordinary DJ Sundance.
After the commercial success and rave reviews of his Grammy-winning albums Black Radio and Black Radio 2, se Robert Glasper with the album Covered returns to acoustic jazz roots. An album that was entirely recorded live in front of an audience at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, reunited Glasper, bassist Vincent Archer and drummer Damion Reid. "I missed the piano," simply explains Glasper, who for the past five years, while recording and performing with his Experiment band, has devoted himself entirely to keyboards.
For the Ljubljana audience, Glasper will perform, among others, songs from the album Covered, with which he wants to bring his own jazz sound closer to his listeners. On the album, he arranged songs in an acoustic jazz style of hip-hop and R&B names such as Kendrick Lamar, Musiq Soulchild and John Legend, the band's tunes Radiohead and Joni Mitchell, collaborated with the legendary singer and activist Harry Belafonte, and he also arranged a bonus song from the album Black Radio 2, I do not even care, in which he collaborated with Macy Gray and Jean Grae.
