At the beginning of May, National Volunteer Week takes place across the country, which includes various events related to volunteering - many organizations present themselves, share experiences, invite visitors to join their ranks and have fun, as only volunteers know how. The central event is the Happy Volunteering Day, which this year will be held on May 16. At that time, organizations from all over Slovenia will present themselves at the stands on Prešern Square in Ljubljana, and the volunteers will celebrate their work and have fun together with you.
Slovenian philanthropy traditionally organizes between May 13 and 19, 2019 National Volunteer Week, an event where you can you get to know many organizations, thank them for their engagement or even become a member of one of these and you contribute to a better tomorrow of our society.
Many will be held this week local events in different parts of Slovenia and include round tables on current topics related to volunteering, presentations of organizations and other events. This year, the event is colored by the theme of discrimination and it was named Let's fix it discrimination!.
May 14 will take place awards ceremony to the most deserving in the field of volunteering - so some individuals will receive the award for the best a mentor, a volunteer, an employee in the public administration, and hero of our time (schools and boarding schools with the best organized volunteerism). Municipalities that actively promote volunteering will receive a prize a volunteer-friendly place.
