The new BMW iX: a harbinger of the electric future

Emission-free driving, sporty agility and convincing range. All this is offered by the new BMW iX, which presents a new design for future electric models and opens wide the door to innovation and connectivity.

New ones BMW iX will be available in two versions. Both will be equipped with electric four-wheel drive with joint power 385 kW (523 hp). A variant iX xDrive50 (battery with capacity 105.2 kWh) will be able to drive to 650 km, while the reach of the version will be iX xDrive40 (battery with capacity 71 kWh) amounted to 425 km. A model will join later BMW iX M60, which is said to have even 440 kW power (600 hp).

The BMW iX was designed as an electric car from the very beginning. Aerodynamics are optimized, and the design is made of aluminum and carbon fiber, which increase strength and reduce weight. A built-in heat pump will take care of proper cooling or heating of the battery. The combined charging unit will allow charging with up to 200 kW of power (iX xDrive40 up to 150 kW), and the battery will be from 10- to 80% already filled in 35 minutes. In this case it will 10 minutes charging was sufficient for up to 150 km further trips.

BMW iX

The iX will already be richly equipped in the basic version, and special attention has been paid to the so-called iDrive system. It is based on a connection between a car and a human, and the latter can give his commands through speech, gestures or via a touch screen. The central system is a curved screen that consists of 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch control display. Otherwise, the interior is spacious, and the pleasant ambience ensures well-being. There is also a wide range of new assistants, safety systems and technologies that will achieve third-level autonomy.
