The BMW R 1300 R is here. And it's no longer just a machine for leisurely touring with the wind in your hair and leather on your back - it's now a real beast. A roadster has sprung from Munich, hiding the wildest boxer engine BMW has ever put on the road. And if you thought the R 1250 R could already show its muscles, then preparing for the R 1300 R includes a helmet, protectors and - above all - a lot of confidence.
BMW R 1300 R is equipped with the most powerful production boxer engine in the brand's history: 1,300 cm³, 107 kW (145 hp) at 7,750 rpm and a whopping 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. If these figures don't impress you - let us remind you that this is a two-cylinder engine! This means brutal responsiveness, linear torque and pleasure that will send you into ecstasy already in second gear.
For comparison: the predecessor R 1250 R offered 136 hp and 143 Nm, which means the new model has gained a lot of muscle mass - without any extra belly. In fact, the new rims are even 1.4 kg lighter, which means better acceleration, sharper braking and, above all, significantly improved handling.
BMW R 1300 R 2025: Electronics on steroids
In this generation, BMW decided that a motorcycle should not only be powerful, but also smart. The R 1300 R offers three basic riding modes (Rain, Road, Eco), as well as the optional Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. This allows everyone to adapt the riding characteristics to the conditions or – honestly – to their mood.
Also standard is MSR – a braking torque control system that prevents the rear wheel from “locking” during aggressive downshifts. And if you want complete relaxation, BMW also offers ASA – an automatic transmission with a robotic clutch. Yes, that’s right: you can shift manually or let the engine do it. By itself. Easier than a cup of coffee.
BMW R 1300 R 2025: The chassis that every winding road wants
The chassis of the BMW R 1300 R 2025 has been completely redesigned. Upside-down telescopic fork (47 mm) at the front, EVO Paralever at the rear. The new steel/aluminium frame combines rigidity and compactness, which you can feel on every incline.
Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) is now optionally available – a world first, allowing adjustable spring rate in a standard fork! The combination of adjustable damping and automatic load compensation means that the motorcycle adapts to you, not you to it.
Ergonomically aggressive, comfortably yielding
Although the BMW R 1300 R 2025 looks like a machine for adrenaline junkies, it remains true to its BMW heritage of comfort. The new seating position (lower handlebars, further back pedals) is sportier, but still comfortable for long journeys. There are a number of seat heights available (from 760 to 840 mm), a heated seat and even optional “Comfort” handlebars.
With a new luggage system, electrified side cases (26 and 29 liters), interior lighting and a USB-C charger, the R 1300 R is also ready for multi-day tours.
A technological treat with an adventurous soul
The octagonal LED headlight is not just an aesthetic highlight – with the “Headlight Pro” option, it enables active cornering lighting. There is also the “Riding Assistant” system with active cruise control and collision warning. Yes, even the engines are now smart.
Navigation? No key. Everything unlocks electronically, like a spaceship.
Why is it worth falling in love?
The BMW R 1300 R is not a motorcycle for everyone. It's not even for beginners (unless you're brave). It's the ultimate embodiment of a dynamic roadster that's not afraid of the asphalt jungle, country bends or German autobahns. It's designed for those who know what "apex" means and why it's not all about the numbers - but are still happy to read that the machine can reach a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph) and accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 3.5 seconds.
The price for the base model will (according to current information) be in Germany was around €16,500, and the Performance version can easily jump over 20 grand – but for that you get an almost superbike package, without the uncomfortable seating position.
Final Thought: A Beast in Gentleman's Clothing
BMW The R 1300 R 2025 is a motorcycle that dares to go further. No longer just a stylish companion for a Sunday outing, it is a true road warrior – capable of comfort and pampering, but ready to attack corners like a samurai. While remaining true to BMW's roots and comfort, it is now more radical, more technically sophisticated and, above all, more fun.
