The first generation BMW X1 was not the most fortunate product in terms of design, but it must be acknowledged that it brought a lot of enjoyment and excellent driving dynamics to the class of compact premium SUVs. After 6 years and 730,000 vehicles, it's high time that BMW rolled up their sleeves and today presents us with the new generation BMW X1. If you wanted the first generation secretly, with the second generation this love will be completely public. The BMW X1 is simply something you will most likely want.
Segment small SUVs is on the rise. Family fathers who years ago looked against segment of minivans are increasingly moving into the dynamic class off-road vehicles. BMW almost wasted its excellent position in the class of premium compact SUVs by fumbling with the renovation of an otherwise interesting, but to date, not very nice product. Stature BMW X1 really joins the family this time BMW X and is becoming a decent family member and not a black sheep.
A dynamic design similar to the larger X3
From your own predecessor he inherited only a few side silhouettes. Everything else belongs to his older brother BMW X3. The impression is that everything is only slightly reduced, but at the same time more dynamic, because The X1 acts bolder. It is shorter in length than the previous generation for 3.8 centimeters. He gained good height 5 centimeters. Also because of the above we can't talk about the crossover anymore, but proportionally – about a real SUV. Although somewhat shorter lengths however, the engineers succeeded in obtaining a completely new layout of the space 6 centimeters extra legroom.
They also significantly increased the volume of the luggage compartment for 85 liters and in the back they are now offering it 505 liters. This is the right one family volume! Here, we should also mention the modular rear bench, i.e. the seats, which can now be moved longitudinally (by as much as 13 centimeters) and thus adjusted the volume of the luggage compartment.
Different driving dynamics
The big change is deployment UKL Architecture, which is common to the models Mini and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. And this time it is being used for the first time, as a replacement for the old platform. This means that you can use the new one The X1 says goodbye to permanent rear-wheel drive, which replaces permanent front-wheel drive with advanced xDrive technology, of course, remains the potential of off-road capabilities and the possibility of sending power to rear pair of wheels. From now on, the engine is also installed atypically, namely transversely and not longitudinally, as tradition dictates.
In the face of change
V X1 three diesel engines and two "gasoline" engines will roar. Later, a smaller three-cylinder diesel and a gasoline engine should be added.
Naturally, as always, BMW brings many innovations to this segment. Thus, for the first time, a head-up display, all possible assistance systems and a bunch of applications in the "entertainment" system will be available.
