New Ford Ranger 2022: global pick-up star

The new Ford Ranger was one of the most anticipated models in 2021. Also because it has been a real bestseller in our region in recent years. It is a vehicle that can serve as an excellent work partner. On the weekends, you can go on adventure trips with it without any problems.

Basically, the Ford Ranger got an extended wheelbase, which is now 50 millimeters longer. With this, Ford gained some space for passengers on the back seat. At the same time, with this move, the entry angle has been improved, and thus the Ford Ranger will be able to handle even more terrain off-road. The popular pick up is 50 millimeters wider than its predecessor. Mainly so that the capacity of the caisson will increase slightly. It now accommodates a full-size palette with no problem. Speaking of the caisson, you can access it with built-in side steps. Just as we are used to with large Ford Pick-ups.

Speaking of the pick-up's main features, the cargo area has a solid plastic-molded bed cover that Ford promises will stand the test of time thanks to its robust construction. For greater practicality, the Ford Ranger has additional cargo attachment points mounted on tubular steel rails, so you can adjust the cargo attachments to suit the shape of the load. Similar solutions, as introduced by the smaller Maverick and larger F-150, which in recent generations have significantly improved the functionality of the caisson.

Of course, everything is different inside the new Ford Ranger. The cabin has been completely redesigned. In the middle, the SYNC4 system boasts a 10.1- or 12-inch touchscreen, as seen on the latest Ford Edge, while the Expedition and Mach-E have a slightly larger screen. The new pickup also has a fully digital instrument panel, of course to keep up with the times! You'll also notice that Ford ditched the classic shifter and replaced it with a round selector lever, which is nice and familiar from other Ford models. At Ford, however, they did not skimp on the quality of materials, which is at the level of personal vehicles and not vehicles intended for work. Many Ford Ranger users have complained in the past about inferior materials in the cabin. Ford heard them.

The redesigned truck is also packed with technology, including matrix LED headlights and a 360-degree camera. The next Ranger supports over-the-air updates (aka Ford Power-Up) and allows owners to use a smartphone app for remote control.

Various power units will be available for Europe, but 2.0-liter diesels and a gasoline unit marked 2.3 will be in the forefront. This means that the diesel will be comparable to the existing one, which is capable of 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

Availability will depend on the market, as not all powertrains will be available, but the new Ford Ranger will be sold in as many as 180 countries,

As for trim levels, official images show the XLT alongside a Sport-badged model and an off-road-oriented Wildtrak variant. At the time of writing, we do not yet have official information from the Slovenian importer!
