Garmin has announced the Forerunner 620 and Forerunner 220 GPS running watches – Garmin's lightest, thinnest and most advanced running watches. The second best thing is a personal running coach.
Forerunner 620 offers advanced functions such as recovery advisor, race predictor and VO2 max, which help runners train smarter and achieve new competitive goals. With the useful new HRM-Run heart rate sensor Forerunner 620 provides feedback on your running fitness. For training in gyms, e.g. on the treadmill, both watches have a built-in acceleration sensor that records distance and pace, so there is no need for additional sensors.
For additional motivation, the clock detects the achievement of personal records in running, such as e.g. fastest 5km, 10km, half marathon, marathon or longest run ever. Using a heart rate sensor, the 620 incorporates multiple pieces of data such as running speed, beats per minute and heart rate variability into an advanced algorithm to estimate running VO2 max. The number itself tells the maximum volume of oxygen that a runner can use per minute, per kilogram of body weight at maximum performance.
