Almost a year after the premiere of the new Golf 'eight', Volkswagen presented two new versions of the body. It is the classic station wagon version, the new Golf Variant, and its crossover derivative Alltrack.
The new Golf Variant is the sixth generation station wagon based on Golf. Although its base is a "compact" car, this one Golf it is no longer just a "compact" class. The dimensions of the new Golf Variant reveal a new story. New ones Golf Variant it measures as much as 466 centimeters in length, which is a whole 38 centimeters more than the classic Golf. The latter is definitely a guarantee for the luxurious offer of space on the rear seats, since the wheelbase itself is larger by a full 7 cm than in the classic Golf. Thus, individuals greater than 190 cm, comfortably placed also on the back bench.
The new Golf Variant in the trunk offers luxurious and at the same time record-breaking 611 liters, and with the seats folded, as much as 1,642 liters. For an additional fee, it can be obtained in the trunk 12 V and 230 V sockets, and the tailgate can be opened electrically, which is slowly becoming a standard moving from luxury vehicles. The interior of the Variant is practically identical in design the classic Golf, only the equipment packages will be slightly changed or adjusted.
Concrete offer of engines for Golf Variant it has not yet been published in Volkswagen, but it will certainly be comparable to the classic Golf. It is very likely that the Variant will be equipped with gasoline engines with 110, 130 and 150 hp and diesel engines with 115 and 150 hp. So a pure Volkswagen classic, which is by no means a bad thing.
As in the previous generation, the variant was joined by a "crossbreed" All track for the off-road. It is a model based on the Variant version, but differs from it in that it is 2 centimeters from the base and is equipped with protective plastic details in field style. Also, the front part with a bumper has been significantly changed, in which additional lights have been installed, thanks to which the Alltrack will definitely be recognizable at night. All-wheel drive will be standard here. Engines are not listed for this model either, but we expect two of the more powerful variants for the Alltrack. The new versions of the Golf Variant are expected to arrive on the market this fall, and the prices are not yet known, but Volkswagen Slovenia will reveal them very soon.
It seems to be counterfeit Volkswagen Passat got an outstanding competitor in the new Golf Variant. And rightly so!
