The freshest, already 10th generation Honda Civic drove between us and onto Slovenian roads and impressed us from the first sight. The sporty exterior expresses an innovative and advanced design with particularly emphasized and sharply sculpted side lines. The wide tires provide a strong, muscular stance, and the LED light signature of the headlights ensures the visibility of this latest generation Civic. After a long time, what we have been waiting for from Honda for a long time!
The interior follows a driver-centric concept. Thus, the central console is adjusted for easier management and greater transparency. The materials are now of even higher quality than in previous generations, and the quality of the manufacturing is also higher. Dimensionally, the new Civic is much larger than its predecessor, 3 cm wider, in length by as much as 13 cm. The interior is like that the most spacious in the class, and the luggage compartment boasts a wide loading surface and a size of just 478 liters.
The engine range includes two petrol units, which will be joined later by a diesel unit. They are petrol representatives 1 liter VTEC TURBO unit, which has 95 kW (129 hp), and represents a stronger version 1.5 liter VTEC TURBO unit with 134 kW (182 hp) powers. The new 1-liter engine boasts more torque at low and medium revs and has a lighter weight, all of which results in a more friendly fuel consumption. All engines will be available with a manual six-speed gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.
The new design of the car ensures better agility and a more sporty feeling while driving, and the use of advanced materials makes the frame easier to 16 kg, and the torsional stiffness increased by 52 %. The steering mechanism is now even more direct and reduces oscillation when driving through corners. The new Civic has received a host of improvements in terms of cabin noise reduction, making it one of the best in class in this segment as well. All Civics are equipped with the SENSING assistance system, which includes a host of safety technologies. The menus are translated into Slovenian, and we were also pleasantly surprised by the voice warnings, which are also in Slovenian.
The Civic with a liter engine will have four equipment levels: Comfort, Elegance, Executive and Executive Premium, and the 1.5-liter unit Sport and Sport Plus package. In addition to these two, we also have the Prestige equipment available, which also differs from the sports versions in terms of exterior. Base price Honda Civic with 1.0 VTEC TURBO engines and Comfort equipment packages costs 17,990 euros, best equipped with 1.5 VTEC TURBO engines and Prestige equipment 25,990 euros.
After the first few kilometers, we can safely say that progress is being made Honda Civic noticeable at first glance, and it may well happen that the Civic will once again become a popular car on Slovenian roads.
