When looking at the new Hyundai Tucson, we have to admit that it is an extremely playful SUV, which with its appearance pleases the European taste - although it is actually quite a global car. Bold lines and non-conservative design distinguish it from some of its "branded" brothers. For the Hyundai brand, the Tucson thus opens the door to a different perception of the brand by customers on the old continent. Europe, the world --- here comes Tucson!
Credit for the design of the new one Tucson has a German designer Peter Schreyer, who years ago also signed under the extremely revolutionary at the time Audi TT. And this time, it seems that Hyundai has given him a free hand, giving his creativity half a boost. Bold lines based on urbanity, but at the same time sufficient organic, to embody the label SUV (spotter SUV) come to the fore in a set of details that even want to move the Tuscon to a higher class. It is cosmopolitan because it will be practically identical all over the world. But for Europe - also made in Europe.
He steps into his shoes predecessor IX35, from whom he did not inherit much, but is his direct successor. At Hyundai decided that cars should have names and not numbers. Such a label gives cars their own character, and rightly so.
Design story continues in the refined interior, where the lines are clean and in line with what has already been seen with the brand. The materials work at a high level, and the feeling of spaciousness is excellent and even surprising at times. The luggage space is not negligible either, which with 513 liters volume is not among the largest, but for SUV quite sufficient. Taking into account the fact that when the seats are folded down, you get a space to squeeze into 1503 liters. It is also sufficient for a small relocation.
Terneskiness is in his genes
Hyundai is a European pioneer SUV segment. Ever since 2000, when Hyundai started selling Santa Fe of the first generation, Hyundai sold more than 1.2 million SUVs. In 2014, more than 25% of Hyundai's sales belonged SUVs. New ones Tucson it is a combination of past experience and new knowledge, and we believe that at Hyundai they have made sure that you will overcome any off-road obstacle with it.
Motorization and 4WD
The new Tucson is available with one of the most comprehensive range of powertrains in the class. Five engines are available, two petrol and three diesel, with a power range from 85 to 136 kW. Of these, the 1.6-liter petrol T-GDI and 2.0-liter diesel engines are available with four-wheel drive (4WD). Only this one tolerates most of the time 100% power to the front pair of wheels, but when the electronics detects the need, it can switch to the rear pair of wheels 50% power. By manually selecting the "Lock Mode" function, up to a speed of 40 km/h, for greater vehicle stability, the torque is redistributed in the ratio 50/50 on both wheelsets.
Entertainment and security systems
On the center console, you will be greeted by an 8-inch touch screen, through which you will manage the vehicle's information system and system-driven navigation TomTom. Only this one has 7 years of free updating and many very interesting functionalities, such as displaying the current weather.
Entertainment electronics are also joining safety assistance systems, where Tucson provides a comprehensive security spectrum by introducing new security technologies. Thus, the collision prevention system (Autonomous Emergency Braking - AEB), which prevents collisions up to 180 km/h, or recognizes pedestrians up to 70 km/h. Lane Keeping Assist System LKAS), blind spot control system (Blind Spot Detector – BSD), rear-cross traffic alert system (Rear-Cross Traffic Alert RCTA), electronic vehicle stability control (Vehicle Stability Management – VSM), traffic sign detection system (Speed Limit Information Function – SLIP), active engine hood (Active Hood System – AHS)…. and on and on….
