The all-new Kia EV6 electric crossover has been selected as 'German Car of the Year 2022' in the premium category of the selection (German Car of the Year - GCOTY). The innovative crossover wins the prestigious award at a time when it is just arriving in Kia showrooms in Europe.

The innovative EV6 crossover beat a diverse set of competitors, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volkswagen ID.4, Audi Q4 e-tron, Škoda Enyaq and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. A jury of 20 automotive journalists evaluated the new models with basic price between 25,000 and 50,000 EUR. In addition to the three main categories – 'compact' for vehicles priced under EUR 25,000, 'premium' for vehicles priced between EUR 25,000 and EUR 50,000 and 'luxury' for vehicles over EUR 50,000 - the selection also included an additional category of 'new energy' for vehicles , powered exclusively by batteries or hydrogen. The Kia EV6 was in second place in this category.

The EV6 is Kia's first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) built on the all-new Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The high-tech platform allows the vehicle to travel up to 528 kilometers on a single charge in the combined WLTP cycle, while the 800-volt advanced charging technology allows the EV6 to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The EV6 also makes good use of class-leading interior space and a wide range of assistance and infotainment technologies.
Buyers can choose between long-range (77.4 kWh) and standard-range (58.0 kWh) battery packs, available in combination with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The 77.4 kWh battery is available with a 168 kW (229 hp) electric motor and rear-wheel drive, while the AWD versions with two electric motors can produce a total of 239 kW (325 hp). The powerful all-wheel drive GT version with 430 kW (585 hp) and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds will go on sale in late 2022. The 58.0 kWh battery pack is available with a 125 kilowatt electric motor and rear-wheel drive , while AWD versions with two electric motors can offer a total of 173 kW (235 hp).
