The Opel Corsa is one of the most successful city cars of all time, as it has been on the road for more than 30 years. The new generation of corsa proves that it does not make sense to excessively change old and successful recipes. With a thorough renovation, it again caught up with its competitors and even overtook them in some segments. On the test, we hosted the most interesting one with a three-cylinder 1.0 ecotec turbo engine, which is, simply put - exciting.
My personal encounter with the Corsa is based on my own experience with the ownership of the previous generation, so the impressions are even stronger, or rather I know the car of the previous generation very well, as it has been with the "house" for more than 7 years. During this time, a person gets to know a certain "model" more closely and can judge him differently, because the experience is more authentic.
Many the new Opel Corsi (this time bearing the letter E) are criticized for design restraint, but it should be emphasized that the previous generation is one of the few cars that did not undergo many renovations and ironing out wrinkles over the years and remained an interesting design and extremely affordable car until the arrival of the new version. The new generation of Opel Corsa brings all the good features of the previous generation and upgrades them with a generous amount of freshness. Design wise too.
The shape of the new Opel Corse is recognizable as the silhouette of the car has remained very similar. Nevertheless, it is hidden on the bodywork a multitude of details, which as a set of design approaches represent a new design story. The undercarriage was subjected thorough mechanical renovations, which is known for the greatly improved driving characteristics of the Corsa. Only this one drives like the "big ones"! It's more polished and quieter and at the same time also exceptional fun and dynamic. What is surprising is the fact that despite the unchanged basic shape of the body, the engineers are exceptionally well sound sealed a vehicle that is truly quieter compared to the previous generation, and with that plenty of comfort level higher level. The chassis is basically set up comfortably, with a choice 17 inch rims the new Corsi automatically belongs as well sports chassis package, which is installed right at the factory this ensures sporty dynamism. Cute! In terms of driving dynamics, position on the road and sound insulation, a significant leap can be felt between the two generations.
It impresses in the passenger cabin manufacturing quality and choice of much better materials as in the predecessor. Of course, the freshness is also noticeable in design, where the Corsa inherited many dashboard design details from the smaller Opel Adama. Only this one has been cleared of a multitude of buttons, which are partly replaced by a touch screen - the center of the system IntelliLink. This enables modern and excellent connectivity with smartphones and connectivity with the Internet, where quite a few applications are available. The system is cute and uncomplicated, so we can only praise him.
Of course, a small city car must also have everything that the big ones have. Test Opel Corsa thus provided a multitude of technical aids and driver assistance systems. In the Corsa test, we were spoiled by the system for independent parking, a collision warning system, a traffic sign recognition system and a headlight beam adjustment system. They are all in order part of paid accessories, but at Opel they offer an excellent combination of advanced packages with which you can get the mentioned equipment practically for a pittance in sales campaigns.
It's under the hood breathed a truly extraordinary liter three-cylinder with 115 horses, which transmitted power to the road with 6-speed gearbox and impressed in practically all situations. This claim can be confirmed by data on paper, which promises acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in a pinch 10.3 seconds while the joy ends at 195 km/h final speed. The data on paper means in practice that you are sitting behind the wheel of an extremely playful and responsive Corsa, which "pulls" nicely in all rev ranges and, in an ideal scenario, has available 170 Nm of torque. It is enough that you reach for the gearbox less, but when you do, the cooperation is Germanic exemplary. The engine appears to be in the test room Corsi an ideal choice, which in the end pleases us even with a small consumption, since we spent quite a few motorway kilometers on the test 6.4 liters per hundred kilometers driven.
Meeting the new Opel Corsa it was like meeting an old friend I've always had a crush on. In the new package, she managed to evoke new emotions again, if you will... new love.
