New series in April 2021 that will keep us up late

Netflix, HBO GO, Amazon Prime Video - novelties on our screens

New series for April 2021 bring exciting viewing, from which we will not take our eyes off and will stay awake long into the night.

After a short lull in March, in which unfortunately we didn't get many new series to talk about (the exception being the Spanish hit Who Killed Sara, which you can watch on Netflix), April is looking pretty exciting. A recognized series A girl's story, one of the best series of the past few years, is back, while these days we're also treated to a BBC crime miniseries The Serpent, based on true events.

The Handmaid's Tale (2017– )

The cult series and one of HBO's most famous stories returns with a new season. The fourth season will premiere on the HBO GO platform on April 29. In the new season, June will strike back at Gilead as a rebel leader, but this brings unexpected and dangerous new challenges. Her quest for justice and revenge will completely consume her, which could destroy her most precious relationships.

Them (2021– )

From April 9, you can watch the new anthology series Them on Amazon's streaming service Amazon Prime Video. It is the story of an African-American family who moved from North Carolina to Los Angeles in the 1950s, but the environment does not accept them easily. But it's not just superficial stereotypes, the family also begins to fight for their lives in this terrifying drama.

The Serpent (2021)

A few days ago, a new series The Serpent was released on Netflix, which particularly attracts us with its cast, aesthetics and plot. It is set in the 1970s and is based on the true crimes of Charles Sobhraj, who killed young tourists and became a master of disguise and concealment along with his girlfriend Marie-Andree, who was on the run with him.

Mare of Eastown (2021– )

The new HBO series, coming April 19, stars Kate Winslet as Mara Sheehan, a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder while her life falls apart. The series explores the dark side of a close-knit community and how family and past tragedies can shape our present.

Shadow and Bone (2021– )

Netflix series based on bestselling books will soon be joined by another one. On April 23, the fantasy series Shadow and Bone, based on the book of the same name by Leigh Bardugo, is coming. The plot of the series is set in the kingdom of Ravka, which is separated from the sea by a dark piece of Unsea land, on which there are wolves - monsters with whom the inhabitants of the kingdom are in a long war. The main character with special powers, Alina, completely by chance becomes a member of the special unit Grisha, whose goal is to fight against evil creatures and save the kingdom.

The Nevers (2021– )

The new series The Nevers arrives on HBO GO on April 12. The story is set in the last years of Queen Victoria's reign, when London is teeming with "chosen" people - mostly women - who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities, some charming, some very disturbing. Among them are Amalia True, a mysterious widow, and Penance Adair, a brilliant young inventor, who become the protectors of a new underclass and unite the "chosen" against various forces to make room for those who have no place in history as we know it.

Life in Color with David Attenborough (2021– )

Everything that David Attenborough recorded in his long career will remain in our memory forever. And the new Dossier, coming to Netflix on April 22nd, will be no exception. This time, the world-renowned biologist will show us how animals see and react to colors and how this helps them avoid dangers and situations in which they feel most vulnerable.
