New Stratos: The Legend Returns!

New Stratos

Well, maybe not quite literally, and the title is a bit misleading, but that doesn't change the fact that one of rally competition's most legendary names is back. Namely, the return of Stratos, whose name we got to know decades ago, when Lancia was at the peak of success in one of the most exciting sports industries.

It was in 2010 New Stratos presented as concept, which many expected to actually be the new Lancia Stratos. It's been quite some time since then, and we've kind of forgotten about Stratos. Now it's back in style, and in a press release they've revealed to us that they're going to put their faith in the line-up 25 cars New Stratus Italian to a boutique carmaker. It's called Manifattura Automobili Torino or MAT for short. MAT was licensed to manufacture from Pininfarina and Michael Stoschek, who jointly developed the concept New Stratos. MAT has been given permission to reproduce 25 cars that will have the same technology and design as the concept car.

At MAT, they will even go so far as to make different shapes and variations of cars on the New Stratos platform. Customers will thus be able to choose between GT racing cars, sort of safari version and super sports cars for everyday use. The lines of the New Stratos can be compared to its extremely successful grandfather, who reigned in rally competitions some time ago. Lightweight construction and converted Ferrari engine they provide more than 550 horsepower, and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h will be 3.3 seconds. The car, which has given itself a revived and legendary name, will be available for a closer look at International Motor Show in Geneva in March.
