The Volkswagen Taigo is truly a cross between an off-road car and a coupe. So the design, which was now reserved for premium vehicles, brings freshness and a new approach to the A0 segment. We can only write that it is commendably different!
Volkswagen brings a new style and the right amount of emotionality and individuality to the so-called "A0" segment. Thus, with the new Taigo model, it presents its first SUV-coupé in a class where price is an important factor, but at the same time customers are looking for something different and more individualized. It therefore impresses with its crossover body, elevated seating position, undiminished functionality, and enhanced lifestyle. The rear of the five-seater Taiga slopes downwards in the style of a coupe, while not restricting headroom in the rear of the passenger cabin. With this, Volkswagen expands the portfolio of front-wheel-drive Polo (compact rear) and T-Cross (SUV) compact models built on the Group's transverse modular platform (MQB) with a third body version, which until now has been available almost exclusively for higher-priced models. The emphasis at Taigo is somehow on design, individuality and emotionality. The almost 4.26 m long SUV coupé, which is equipped as standard with headlights in integral LED technology, a fully digital combined instrument and the latest generation infotainment system (MIB3), sets technological standards in its class.
The target group of the new Volkswagen SUV-coupe mainly includes younger buyers who are in favor of trends and design, buyers who are young at heart, as well as people with an active way of spending their free time. The volume of the trunk is 440 liters. Thus, despite its coupe-like silhouette, the new Taigo with a full seating arrangement has almost as much storage space as the compact SUV T-Cross with a longitudinally sliding rear seat bench (385 to 455 litres).
Volkswagen presents five high-performance gasoline engines for the Taiga, which has front-wheel drive in all versions. It develops power of 70 kW (95 hp), 81 kW (110 hp) or 110 kW (150 hp). Top speed is 183 km/h, 191 km/h or 212 km/h. Depending on the engine, gear shifting takes place manually via a 5-/6-speed manual transmission or via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG). The use of economical TSI gasoline engines with low emission values represents an important step on the way to greater environmental friendliness.
