The long-awaited new Volvo XC60 is here. Volvo unveiled the new generation of its mid-size SUV at the Geneva Motor Show. Its predecessor was on the market for nine years. In many ways, the new Volvo SUV shares the platform and design elements with the larger XC90 model.
What nine years was necessary for it to enter the market the new Volvo XC60, mid-sized SUV. The current generation was a real hit, as the model represented just that 30 percent of sales Swedes. It stands on a shortened platform SPA, owned by the 90 series (XC90, S90 and V90).
The range of engines includes gasoline and diesel engines, the power of which extends from 187 to 316 "horses", but is also available hybrid drive T8 Twin Engine, which accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. All engines are four-cylinder, namely two two-liter diesel (D4 with 187 hp and D5 with 232 hp) and two two-liter gasoline units (T5 with 251 hp and T6 with 316 hp).
It is decorated with a special filter that will prevented polluted air from entering the passenger cabin, in which, as they say, it will be "fresh Scandinavian air”.

Volvo has always been extremely safe car and it remains so. The new Volvo XC60 will be for the driver with automatic steering wheel movement helped out of the danger zone in various critical situations. They upgraded the system with automatic control City Safety, which is intended for the situation when merely emergency braking it would not be enough to avoid a collision. The SUV will take control and avoid obstacles (animals, pedestrians) between speeds of 50 and 100 km/h.
The system also works on the basis of automatic control Oncoming Lane Mitigation (avoiding the opposite lane) which helps when avoiding a collision with a vehicle in the adjacent lane. With automatic steering, the blind spot detection system has also been upgraded FLASH (Blind Spot Information System). In this case, he returns the driver to the center of his lane.
"All three functions also represent an important step in the direction of autonomous driving," says the director of Volvo's safety center Malin Ekholm. The new Volvo XC60 will be available from July 2017 further.
