To celebrate 35 years of the Super Mario Bros video game, Nintendo has prepared a special Mario-themed Game & Watch collectible console. Woo-hoo!
Even before the GameBoy saw the light of day, the original was released in Japan in 1980 Game & Watch, Nintendo's first portable handheld game system. Compared to the original, the collectible Game & Watch for 2020 has a gold face, a color screen and a more modern control panel, with the Super Mario Bros. logo above the screen. In addition to the classic Super Mario, this system will be able to play more Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, as well as a special game Game & Watch: Ball, which, as expected, will be Mario-themed. Like the original Game & Watch, this special edition will also be able to serve as a digital clock. In this mode, according to Nintendo, it will be able to display 35 animations, which will not only include Mario, but also other characters from the popular game.
And while the Collector's Edition is certainly very retro, Nintendo has tweaked the specs for the 21st century. There will be a connection for USB-C, and the lithium-ion battery will last on a single charge eight hours of gameplay.
Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch will be available from November 13 for around 50 euros. A great gift for the "geek" in your company, right?
