NIVEA presented a shower gel charging station prototype

Many brands are aware of the problem of packaging waste. The German giant Beiesdorf, which manages the NIVEA brand, thus embarked on a mission to reduce the use of plastic in its products. Thus, they want to launch a charging station where users will buy shower gel "in bulk".

The project has many advantages, but also some disadvantages. The biggest problem is that the shower gels themselves they are not good for the environment and there is no way to know how many bottles are actually cleaned before being recycled, otherwise recycling does not work. Shower gels they also need a lot of water for production and due to climate change the water crisis is already a big issue in many countries. NIVEA he sees the solution in a special shower gel filling station that uses less water to make the gel and can be packaged in recycled paper.

The prototype was made with a 3D printer.

The prototype has been tested in selected locations, where the brand will collect data on how consumers react to the concept of reusable bottles. The prototype machine was made using their own 3D printers. NIVEA hopes to enable consumers with this charging station reusing bottles and reducing plastic consumption. Once they realize that it is easy to make sustainable lifestyle changes, they will more quickly adopt it as a habit.

It's a great start to a global brand like that NIVEA accelerate change and become a sustainable choice.
