On World Poetry Day, verse will become the currency of payment

On World Poetry Day, March 21, 2015, verse will become the new currency of payment. On this day, guests in 1,200 cafes, bars, restaurants and other bars from 27 countries from all over the world will turn into poets and pay for their coffee with a verse. Slovenia is also part of the international initiative, where it will be possible to pay with poetry at 15 locations. Behind the initiative is Julius Meinl, Viennese coffee roaster and global ambassador of Viennese coffeehouse culture. With the poetry movement, they want to inspire individuals and encourage them to, at least for one day, surrender to their emotions and creativity.

Sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration to get creative

With an international project, he wants to Julius Meinl to encourage people to stop at least for a moment in their constant rush and pour their feelings into poetry. In doing so, they continue the tradition of inspiring poets and other artists, which they have cultivated since 1862. The Viennese coffeehouse culture, which has been spread by the Julius Meinl company since its beginnings, is still imbued with poetry today. Its uniqueness is not only reflected in the special coffee blends and ways of serving them, but above all in the inspiring atmosphere. Cafes, which represent a place for meetings and social events over coffee, have always been a source of inspiration for many poets, musicians, writers, intellectuals and other creators around the world. With this initiative, Julius Meinl goes one step further, as it proves that poetry is not only created by recognizable artists. They are convinced that everyone can express themselves creatively and thus become a unique poet. Some people just need a little initiative or inspiration, which may be just a cup of coffee.
