With the most powerful camera on the market, a sci-fi battery, and a design that screams "copy, but good," the Oppo Find X8 Ultra raises the bar for what's possible in 2025.
If you could put together a phone from the best parts of every flagship – that’s exactly what Oppo has done. Oppo Find X8 Ultra It's not just another Android. It's every tech enthusiast's wet dream, packed into 226 grams of pure technology. And yes, we announced this phone last year.
If you’ve ever imagined your dream phone in your head—with the best display, camera, battery, and processor—then you’ve probably described the Oppo Find X8 Ultra before it even existed. It’s not just the next phone in a long line of “ultra” devices, but an ambitious project that dares to say, “What if we didn’t compromise?” And now it’s here. Ready to redefine what a premium phone means in 2025.
Hardware – Oppo Find X8 Ultra: When specs become manifest
To start, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, built on a 3nm architecture, with eight cores, including high-performance Oryon V2 Phoenix L and M cores. The phone also has up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of lightning-fast UFS 4.1 storage. This means it won't hold its breath even if you're running 40 apps at once, editing 4K video, or playing graphics-intensive games.
The screen is luxuriously large – 6.82 inches LTPO AMOLED with a resolution of 1440 x 3168, with support for Dolby Vision, Ultra HDR, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of up to 2500 nits. The image is extremely sharp, contrasting and bright even in daylight. Security is provided by an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the screen, which works quickly and reliably.
Despite its capabilities, the phone's body remains surprisingly elegant - with a 6100 mAh silicon-carbon alloy battery, it is only 8.8 mm thick and weighs 226 grams. Such a battery allows for greater capacity in a smaller space while supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless chargingYou almost never need to charge your phone overnight – ten minutes of plug time means hours of use.
Camera – Oppo Find X8 Ultra: Welcome to the future of photography
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is a phone that unashamedly sports five cameras on its back – four “real” ones and one specialized color sensor. The main camera is equipped with a 1-inch sensor with a resolution of 50 MP, which puts it in the category of true compact cameras. Two more telephoto cameras have been added – one with 3x zoom, the other with 6x – both also with a resolution of 50 MP and impressively large sensors. The ultra-wide-angle camera is not far behind, offering also 50 MP, while an additional sensor takes care of accurately determining the color temperature and more realistic whites.
As for video, the phone records in 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second and supports Dolby Vision. The result is footage that looks like it came from a professional video system. Photos at night are clean, bright and with a gently blurred background, without an artificial “portrait effect”. In addition, the telephoto lenses allow for macro photography from a distance, which means you don’t have to get in front of a flower to capture it.
Accessories that make a difference
Oppo Find X8 Ultra doesn't just follow trends - it co-created most of them. It has support for IP68 and IP69 standards, which means resistance to water, dust and even high-pressure jets. It has a built-in Wi-Fi 7 module, Bluetooth 5.4, an infrared transmitter and a GPS system with multi-level positioning, including Galileo, Beidou and GLONASS. There is also a satellite SOS function for emergency messages when there is no mobile signal (on a special version of the phone).
There are up to three models available – with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of internal storage and 12 or 16GB of RAM. They all come in three colours: matte black, pure white and soft pink. And while you can't insert a microSD card, that's rarely a drawback with 1TB.
Software: iOS, but with the freedom of Android
Oppo has included ColorOS 15 in the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, which is based on Android 15. It is a visually extremely polished system that shamelessly "absorbs" quite a few elements from iOS - from the dynamic island to the arrangement of settings and even the camera. But contrary to Apple's philosophy, here the user still gets the freedom to customize, choose and connect to other devices. There is even "Airdrop", but you need an additional application on the iPhone.
On the left side of the phone is a new “action button” that works similarly to the one on the latest iPhone – you can quickly launch one of the preset functions with it. On the right, Oppo presents a “quick button”, a touch-sensitive button that allows you to control the camera with gestures – to zoom in, take photos and even take continuous photos with a long press. Opinions are divided about it, as it is sometimes too responsive, but it is an interesting implementation.
Opinion: When your phone leaves you no more excuses
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is that rare example of a device that not only outperforms everything the competition currently offers on paper, but does so with incredible confidence and clarity of vision. The hardware is top-notch, the camera is without exaggeration one of the best on the market, the display exceeds expectations, and the battery finally shatters the myth that a powerful phone also has to be thick and slow to charge.
But of course, not everything is perfect. ColorOS is still a software Frankenstein with a heavily “inspired” user interface that will get on some people’s nerves – especially those who swear by pure Android or iOS. The presence of two additional physical buttons will come across as a brazen copy of the iPhone, not an innovation. And, of course, the phone will most likely not be officially available in Europe, which means that buying it will require some technical and logistical skills.
But when I draw the line: The Find X8 Ultra is not a phone for the average user – it’s a phone for those who want it all. And now. No compromises. No waiting for the next model. If there ever was a “power user phone,” this is it.
Conclusion: A phone without compromises
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is not a phone for everyone. It is a phone for those who know what they are looking for – and want nothing less than the best. It combines brutal performance, exceptional autonomy, a professional camera and software that, despite all the comparisons to Apple, still breathes with its own lungs. If you are looking for a phone that does not know the words “too much” or “impossible”, you have just found it. AND price
If the price keeps up with the performance, expect number over 1100 euros in EuropeWhich, considering everything it offers, isn't so much a price as an investment in the future of pocket computing.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra will go on sale in China on April 16th, with the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage priced at 6,499 yuan (around €795, £685, INR 76,000). The 16GB of RAM and 512GB model will cost 6,999 yuan (around €860, £740, INR 82,000), while the top-of-the-line model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage will be available for 7,999 yuan (around €980, £840, INR 94,000).
Although the device is built as a technical manifesto that shamelessly competes Apple, Samsung and Huawei, the prices are – at least in the context of the offer – surprisingly reasonable. At a time when many manufacturers charge four-digit amounts in euros for basic models, Oppo is setting a new standard of value: top-notch hardware, an impressive camera and a battery of the future – all for less than a thousand. Of course, the European price (if and when the phone comes to our market) will probably be slightly higher due to taxes and import costs, but even so, the Find X8 Ultra will be one of the most concrete flagships for its money.
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is a phone that not only sets standards – it pushes them into the future.
