Textured dials, sharp lines and just the right amount of pilot character

Oris has revamped its ProPilot Date 2025 pilot's watch in 2025. The result is not a revolution, but a very smart evolution: a sharper case, better ergonomics, new textured dials, and a feeling that the watch has finally reached the design maturity that the line has been hinting at for years.

Pilot watches are one of those horological categories that don't need to pretend to follow trends. Their mission is clear: legibility, robustness and a touch of instrumentality. Oris has understood this since 1938, when it introduced its first Big CrownAnd ProPilot Date 2025 follows this philosophy.

New ProPilot Date 2025 continues this path, but wisely omits unnecessary gimmicks. Nothing flashy, nothing futuristic. Just a clean form that makes sense when you first see it – and even more so when you wear it.

Case: Old standard, new lines

The width remains, the appearance is completely different

The diameter is 41 mm. ProPilot line has become a classic. But this year, this number has a different weight. The case is more taut in design, the edges are more precisely defined, and the transitions between brushed and polished surfaces are more pronounced.

The watch is 11.7mm thick, and measures 49mm lug-to-lug, meaning it sits surprisingly naturally on your wrist. No more feeling like you’re wearing a pilot’s instrument pushing out of your sleeve – the new ProPilot is more civilized, but by no means domesticated.

A turbine frame that really works as an engineer this time

The turbine-patterned bezel has become a signature feature. The new version is less ornate and more precisely ribbed, improving the feel and adding a sense of technical sharpness. The redesigned crown also contributes to this, with a better texture and better grip.

Dial: Texture that elevates the watch to a higher class

Three shades, one approach

The biggest leap forward is the dials: black, chalk grey and moss green. Each has a subtle relief that reduces glare, adds depth and visually calms the entire composition.

The large Arabic numerals are applied and brushed, adding a three-dimensional feel. The outer ring with the new minute setting is raised and helps guide the eye around the dial in an orderly manner.

A more balanced composition

The date has been moved to 6 o'clock, where it truly belongs. The hands have been redesigned: less luminous mass, more metal volume, clean lines. The accents are color-coordinated – red on the black dial, orange on the chalk and moss variants.

A small detail, but exactly the one that adds a sense of modernity without detracting from the pilot's readability.

Mechanics: A proven choice for every day

Inside beats the Oris Caliber 733 (Sellita SW200 base), with 41 hours of power reserve. Nothing exotic, nothing pretentious – just reliable and easy to service.

The 100m water resistance is a welcome feature for those who wear the watch every day. Available with a steel bracelet with the new LIFT clasp or a leather/suede strap with an adjustable system that follows the case nicely.

Conclusion: Evolution that hits the mark

ProPilot Date 2025 is a watch that understands its mission. It is not designed to shock, but to hit all the little design nails that make a good watch great.

The textured dials are a nice step forward. The case has more character. The bezel is more technical. The whole thing is more coherent.

This is a watch that pays homage to its past, but finally looks like the line always promised.
