With the 2015 Oscar nominations for the main male role, we must not forget the supporting male roles of 2015, which also deserve an Oscar this year. Edward Norton, born August 18, 1969, is an American actor, screenwriter, director, producer and activist. So far, he has been nominated for three Oscars for Primal Fear (1996), American History X (1998) and Birdman (2014). Among other things, he built on his recognition in roles with other films such as Everyone Says I Love You (1996), The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996), Fight Club (1999), Red Dragon (2002), 25th Hour (2002), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), The Illusionist (2006), Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). Ethan Hawke, born November 6, 1970, is an American actor, screenwriter and director. He was nominated for four Academy Awards, both as an actor and writer, and was also nominated for a Tony Award. Hawke directed two feature films, three off-Broadway plays and a documentary, and also wrote two novels, The Hottest State (1996) and Ash Wednesday (2002). He made his film debut in 1985 with the feature film Explorers, and his real breakthrough came with the drama Dead Poets Society (1989). He then appeared in many films such as Generation X (1994), the drama Reality Bites (1994), the romantic drama Before Sunrise (1995) and later the sequels Before Sunset (2004) and Before Midnight (2013). His other films include the sci-fi drama Gattaca (1997), the contemporary adaptation Hamlet (2000), the action thriller Assault on Precinct 13 (2005), the crime drama Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) and the horror film Sinister (2012).
He received a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Trainig Day (2001). He received two Oscar nominations with the screenplay and co-authorship of the screenplays for the films Before Sunset and Before Midnight. For his role in Boyhood (2014), Ethan Hawke received an Academy Award nomination in a supporting role, as well as a Golden Globe nomination and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Mark Ruffalo, born November 22, 1967, is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He portrayed the character of Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Avengers (2012) and will reprise his role in The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Other important films that helped his recognition are You Can Count on Me (2000), Collateral (2004), 13 Going on 30 (2004), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Just Like Heaven (2005), Zodiac (2007), Shutter Island (2010), Now You See Me (2013) and Begin Again (2013). He received Academy Award nominations as an actor in a supporting role for his roles in The Kids Are All Right (2010) and Foxcatcher (2014). He also won Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for The Normal Heart (2014).

JK Simmons as Terence Fletcher in Whiplash

JK Simmons, born January 9, 1955, is an American actor. He is known for his roles as Dr. Emil Skoda in the NBC series Law & Order, as neo-Nazi Vernon Schillinger in the HBO drama series Oz, as Assistant Police Chief Will Pope in the TNT series The Closer, as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, and as the voice of Cav Johnson in the computer game Portal 2 (2011). Last year, as Terence Fletcher, he portrayed a music instructor in Whiplash, which earned him many accolades and awards, including a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination.
