Alejandro González Iñárritu is the first Mexican director to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director, and he was also nominated for Best Director by the Directors Guild of America. Richard Linklater, an American director and screenwriter, is known for the comedy Dazed and Confused (1993), the romantic drama Before Sunrise (1995), the rotoscope animated drama Walking Life (2001), the musical comedy School of Rock (2003), the sequels Before sunrise, Before Sunset (2004) and Before Midnight (2013), the rotoscoped animated sci-fi thriller A Scanner Darkly (2006) and the drama Boyhood (2014), for which he already won the Golden Globe for Best Director and the Golden Globe for Best Drama. Director Linklater is characterized by using the same actors in many of his films, such as: Ethan Hawke, Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey, Julie Delpy and Patricia Arquette.

The American director is known for his critically acclaimed films such as Capote (2005), Moneyball (2011) and last year's Foxcatcher. He has already been nominated twice for the Oscar in the category for best director. For Miller, his documentary Cruise, made with the help of digital cameras, opened many doors. 5. Oscars 2015: Nomination for Best Director 2015 Morten Tyldum – The Imitation Game
Morten Tyldum, a Norwegian director, achieved critical acclaim and immense popularity with his feature debut Buddy in 2003. Before that, he devoted himself to television, shooting music videos, commercials and short films. In 1999, the newspaper Dagbladet named him Film Talent of the Year. In 2008, he made the film Fallen Angels and in 2011 the film Headhunters (Hodejegerne), which became the highest-grossing Norwegian film of all time. His English-language debut is the historical drama The Imitation Game, which was nominated for eight Oscars.
