We mainly associate castles with the fairy tales we read as children, but sometimes reality is just better. This is also proven by the pink Craigievar mansion in Scotland.
This wonderful example of architecture, Craigievar Manor, was built in the middle of the 17th century, until 1963 it was home to the Forbes family and the Scottish Clan Sempill. Today it is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and open to the public.
First of all, you will be impressed by the exterior of the castle, which is beautiful pink color, but it also has an interesting interior, where family portraits, original furniture, an art studio are on display...
That it really is a special mansion is also evidenced by the fact that it is supposed to be this one the inspiration for Walt Disney's castle. See the similarity?
If you haven't thought about it until now about visiting Scotland, after this fairy-tale castle, it should almost be on yours bucket lists.
