The extravagant Porsche 911 Dakar has been officially revealed at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show and promises to be what enthusiasts have been asking for – a fully factory-built 911 Safari.

The 911 Dakar is capable of 480 horsepower, has a twin-turbo six-cylinder, four-wheel drive and is 50 mm higher than the standard Porsche Carrera. If necessary, the lifting system can raise the car by an additional 30 mm - hydraulically, of course. Pirelli has developed its Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires for this model, offering a mix of on-road and off-road performance, with summer and winter tires available as an option. The standard gearbox is the eight-speed PDK, which enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 240 km/h. Rear-wheel steering, 911 GT3 engine mounts and PDCC roll stabilization are combined with two new driving modes to get the most out of the Dakar's off-road capabilities. The rear seat has been removed along with the lightweight glass and CFRP hood to reduce weight. A roof rack with integrated LED lighting is available.

While the likelihood of any production 911 Dakar touching a surface more challenging than a gravel driveway is close to zero, Porsche has proven once again that the 911 is the most versatile sports car in history.

Additional distinctive features of the 911 Dakar include a newly developed, fixed lightweight CFRP rear spoiler and a CFRP front trunk lid with prominent air intakes taken from the 911 GT3. Off-road details such as red aluminum towbars front and rear, extended wheel wells and sills, and stainless steel protective elements on the front, rear and side sills are also standard. The side air intakes on the redesigned front end are also protected from flying stones by stainless steel grilles.

On the roof of the Porsche 911 Dakar, the 12-volt socket for the headlights of the optional roof rack is visible. With a load capacity of 42 kilograms, you can easily fit rally equipment such as fuel and water canisters, folding shovels and draw boards into the rack. A roof tent is also available for the 911 Dakar.

Inside, the 911 Dakar underlines its sporting ambitions with standard bucket seats and no rear seats. Lightweight glass and a lightweight battery further reduce its weight, allowing the Porsche 911 Dakar to weigh just 1,605 kg – just 10 kg heavier than the 911 Carrera 4 GTS with PDK.
