Ferdinand Alexander Porsche probably wouldn't have liked this car. Not because it wasn't good – on the contrary, it's fantastic – but because FA was a man of function, a purist who believed that design should be the silent servant of purpose. But 90 years after his birth, Porsche has created something that might even convince him to break his own rules: the 911 GT3, which is both a racing car and the world's most expensive fashion accessory.
If you've ever held a black chronograph watch or admired the line of the classic 911, then you know the work Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche. He is the one who gave the world a shape in 1963 that has remained virtually unchanged over the past six decades, only refined. On December 11, this design genius would have celebrated his 90th birthday. And since Porsche doesn't celebrate birthdays with a cake, the department Special request (their wish factory) and FA's son Mark Porsche joined forces. The result? Porsche 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche Edition.
A car you won't buy. Not because we don't want it, but because only 90 will be made, and they've probably all been sold to people who have more "air-cooled" memories in their garages than we do hot meals.

Green is the New Black: 80s Aesthetics
The first thing that hits you – in the most elegant way possible – is a color. It’s called FA Green Metallic. It’s not the flashy green you see on Lamborghinis to grab attention on Instagram. It’s a deep, sophisticated color created as a tribute to the Oak Green that adorned the personal 911 Ferdinand Alexander in the 1980s.

The car is based on a platform GT3 Touring. That means it doesn’t have that huge swan-neck wing at the back that screams to the neighbors that you’re going to the racetrack. No, the Touring is for gentlemen. The line is clean, continuous, exactly as the FA would have wanted it. On the flanks, the car rides on Sport Classic wheels in satin black with a body-colored accent. The whole thing feels restrained, but at the same time menacing. Like James Bond in a tuxedo, behind which you know there’s a gun hidden.
Interior: When the car wears your favorite jacket
This is where things get really personal. When you open the door, you're not greeted by the typical racing Alcantara tedium. You're greeted by Truffle Brown Club leather and something Porsche calls "FA Grid-Weave" fabric.

The story goes that this pattern was inspired by FA Porsche's favorite jacket. Seriously. You're sitting in a car that's upholstered like the legendary designer's wardrobe. This fabric adorns the seat center panels, door panels, and even the glove compartment. The gear lever? Open-pore walnut. It's that touch of analog in a digital world that Porsche masters better than anyone.
On the dashboard you'll find a gold plate engraved with the profile of the original 911 and the FA Porsche signature. A bit narcissistic? Maybe. Cool? Absolutely.
Heart of the Beast: Numbers That Don't Lie
Underneath all that nostalgia and fashionable design lies the brutal technology of the Weissach department. This is not just “lipstick”. This is the 911 GT3.
- Engine: 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer six-cylinder. No turbos, no hybrid stuff. Just pure mechanics.
- Power: 375 kW (502 hp) at a stratospheric 9,000 rpm.
- Torque: 449 Nm (331 lb-ft).
- Acceleration: 0–100 km/h (0-60 mph) in just 3.2 seconds (with PDK transmission).
- Final speed: 310 km/h (193 mph).
The car is equipped with all the latest motorsport technology, including double-wishbone suspension at the front, which means this car drives through corners like it can read your mind. It is available with a 7-speed PDK gearbox for those chasing tenths, or a 6-speed manual for those who enjoy “working” while driving. Since this is an 80s homage, I would say the manual is the only morally acceptable choice.
More than just a car: Accessories for collectors
Because the price of 387,000 US dollars (about 360,000 EUR before the Slovenian tax authorities ask about your health) isn't enough, Porsche isn't just giving away a keychain.

Customers receive an exclusive watch Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 90 FA Porsche Edition. This is a modern reincarnation of the world’s first black watch, designed by FA in 1972. The case is made of titanium and the Super-LumiNova coating imitates the look of an aged radio. The rotor in the watch mechanism is a miniature replica of the car’s rim. You also get a “Weekender” bag in the same leather and fabric as the car’s interior. The perfect kit for escaping the city when you realize how much you just spent.
Conclusion: Is it worth the sin?
Let's be brutally honest. 387,000 dollars (euros) is almost three times the price of a standard GT3 Touring. Is it three times better? Mathematically speaking, no. It drives the same, it sounds the same, and flies on the windshield will die at the same speed.
But in the world of luxury, there is no math. There is only story. And the story of a son paying homage to his father with the perfect specification of the world's best sports car is a powerful one. Porsche 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche is proof that heritage matters. It is a wonderful anachronism – a naturally aspirated engine in the age of electricity, a manual transmission in the age of automatics, and a jacket fabric in the age of carbon fiber.

I would say to myself, "This is a car you buy to park in your living room and watch over a glass of whiskey. But please, for God's sake, take it to the range at least once and crank that crank to 9,000. FA would like that."
Production begins in mid-2026. Of the 90 specimens, only 89 are available to us mortals. – he reserved one Porsche MarkAnd who would blame him?
Final score: 5/5 stars (and one kidney sold).
