With its 525 hp, DRS system and 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has already provided enough arguments to command respect from rivals. However, a detailed look at the newest racehorse in the Porsche stable is still worth it. It is the one that all motoring enthusiasts want and is most often on the shopping list of those who know what they want.
The high-revving 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine has been further optimized compared to the previous generation 911 GT3. The increase in power to 386 kW (525 hp) is mainly achieved with new camshafts. The undercarriage air intake ensures that the gearbox can withstand extreme loads even in frequent use on the race track. The 911 GT3 RS accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 296 km/h in seventh gear. But these are just basic numbers.
Extreme aerodynamics
By manipulating the airflow, engineers have created a more aggressively aerodynamic 911 GT3 RS, which adapts its performance to the efficiency of the bodywork, according to the press release. Unlike previous models, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS uses a very large, angular central radiator at the front of the vehicle. The silhouette, which has also been slightly adjusted, now offers more space on the sides to accommodate several versatile active aerodynamic elements. The wide turbo body with air intake hood contributes significantly to the aerodynamic optimization of the 911 GT3 RS – and reinforces the extremely athletic appearance. It also makes room for new, wider wheels that further improve handling. For the first time in a Porsche, the drag reduction system (DRS) is used, with which the vehicle can achieve even lower drag and higher speeds.
The interior is a mix of sport and classic
While the new GT sports car has the typical red and white retro 911 styling on the outside, the interior has the familiar RS look. Black leather, Racetex and carbon finish characterize a purist, sporty ambience. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is available with the Clubsport package at no extra charge. This includes a steel roll cage, hand-held fire extinguisher and six-point seat belts for the driver. On the other hand, the optional Weissach package offers much more: the front hatch, roof, parts of the rear fender and the upper shell of the exterior mirrors are made with carbon weave technology. The roll cage, which is made from CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) for the first time, saves around six kilograms compared to the steel version. Another highlight of the Weissach package are the magnetic shifters, which make shifting even more dynamic with a more precise pressure point and a clearly noticeable click.
The new 911 GT3 RS can be ordered now and is available from 230,112 euros on the German market!
