When tradition meets innovation, masterpieces are born. So it is with the Porsche 928 Monolite project created by Mexican driver and customizer Fernando "Fercho" Urquiza. Two years of manual work and a passion for motoring transformed the classic Porsche 928 S into a rally beast down to the last detail.

Project Porsche 928 Monolith, designed by Fernando Urquiza of Essen Garage in Querétaro, Mexico, is a feast for the eyes and a technical marvel. A Porsche fan since his teenage years, Urquiza combined his knowledge and passion in one of the most unique Porsche projects to date.

The basis of the project dates back to 1980, when Urquiza took the Porsche 928 S as a basis and began to thoroughly modify it for rally and off-road driving. The car now sits on raised suspension and five-spoke wheels shod in Kumho off-road tires. Both the front and rear fenders have been widened to accommodate the larger, wider tires. The bottom of the vehicle is protected by a thick skid plate, and the engine is powered by a completely rebuilt 5.4-liter V8 mated to a manual transmission.

The interior of the 928 Monolite has also undergone a radical transformation. The seats are now racing, OMP, with five-point seat belts, and behind the wheel sits a racer behind the wheel of MOMO. The interior is also completely covered in Alcantara, from the seats to the dashboard, and in addition, the interior is decorated with a fluorescent yellow color that matches the color of the roll bar.

Visually and functionally, one of the most noticeable changes is the conversion of the rear section into a cargo area that can carry two spare tires, a practical addition for long rallies. Urquiz's interventions are not only aesthetic, but also functional, as the car is capable of transporting various sports equipment, from bicycles to water skis.

Additionally, Urquiza also installed a custom titanium exhaust system that creates an engine symphony that rivals the high-end sound system for auditory satisfaction. The car is currently on the Hot Wheels Legends Tour 2023, where it is on display in various major cities.

Porsche 928 Monolith it's not just a car, it's an expression of creativity, engineering mastery and a passion for pushing the boundaries of automotive design. With its unique creation that honors heritage while boldly stepping into the future of rally motoring, the Urquiza proves that the line between classic elegance and rugged off-road performance is essentially only a thin line of imagination.
