In May 1932, the first vehicles raced on the then still dusty Hockenheimring in northern Baden-Württemberg. Since then, the slope south of Mannheim has become the most famous race track in Germany. And the Porsche? Celebrate the 90th anniversary with an exclusive special model. The automaker has chosen its Taycan GTS electric sports car for the Hockenheimring Edition. The model impresses with an engine power of up to 598 hp and offers details that we have not seen before in the Taycan.
The Hockenheimring anniversary logo appears discreetly on the body of the beauty. Among other things, it appears on the B-pillar and on the lid of the storage compartment on the center console. The finish of the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition is also exclusive. Here, the decision was made based on the attractive color of the racing car and for the "stone gray" shade from the "color of your choice" program. This color is reserved for the special edition Taycan in the current model year. "To match this, bronzite was developed as a contrasting color," said the company. The metallic tone gives accents to the exterior and interior.
The interior is dominated by black leather with decorative stitching in Icelandic green. "In this color scheme, they are premieres in the Taycan model series," they said at the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition presentation. This is available in Germany and other selected European markets. "Porsche quoted around 170,000 euros as the price," reports "Auto Motor und Sport". That's around 38,000 euros more than the base GTS model of this electric sports car. The range according to the WLTP standard is said to be up to 624 kilometers.
Vehicle key as a ticket
The special edition vehicle key also serves as a ticket to the Porsche Experience Center at the Hockenheimring. Owners can charge their car for free for two years and get priority parking at the monthly meeting of Porsche enthusiasts. The Porsche Experience Center Hockenheimring was opened in 2019 and offers driving lessons on the racetrack in addition to the vehicle exhibition. "Visitors can use their own Porsche or use the extensive fleet of sports cars at the Porsche Experience Center for a variety of driving dynamics experiences with experienced instructors," the company said.
