Porsche is expanding the range of the Taycan model with the Sport Turismo Wagon variant and the GTS badge, which often means a lot of good things at Porsche.
Porsche is gradually expanding the Taycan range, so now a considerable level of equipment and three body versions are available. So much like the 911 it comes in different variants. New for 2022 is the GTS badge, which sits between the 4S and the Turbo. What we know from Porsche history.
The side skirts are adorned with GTS logos, while the rear-mounted diffuser boasts a gloss black insert. To spice up the newest member of the Taycan, Porsche installs 20-inch Turbo S Aero Design wheels with a satin black finish that you won't find on any other variant. The company logo embedded in the LED light strip at the rear is painted in black, as is the matte black badge on the trunk lid, matrix headlights and the base of the door mirror caps.
Let's say a few words about power. While the 4S under makes 462 horsepower and the Turbo above it makes 670 hp, the GTS hits that sweet spot in the middle with 590 hp for acceleration to 100 km/h in three and a half seconds. The twin-engine four-wheel-drive sedan has a standard capacity battery 93.4 kWh, with charging up to 270 kilowatts to go from a state of discharge, i.e. from 5 percent to 80 percent in just under 22.5 minutes.
Porsche engineers borrowed the adaptive air suspension from the Taycan Turbo and adapted it in terms of tuning and calibration for the new GTS. Up front, you get 6-piston red 4S front brake calipers paired with 390mm front discs, or 30mm larger than those on the 4S. At the rear, the size of the discs remained unchanged at 358 mm. An optional carbon-ceramic option will be available for superior stopping power. Of course for an additional fee.
The Taycan family finally adds a Sport Turismo version without the raised suspension and wheel arch trim of the Cross Turismo. It has the same ride height as the GTS sedan, allowing for a lower center of gravity for sportier on-road performance. Another way you can tell it apart from the SUV-inspired version is to look at the rear spoiler, which is now painted in the same color as the rest of the body.
Similar to Cross Turismo you can get Sports Tourism with a glass roof, as well as a new panoramic roof with variable light control. The latter comprises nine segments of liquid crystal film on the roof and has four selectable modes, with matte being the default setting when you turn off the car. It's also available for the sedan, giving owners in both cases a choice of Clear, Matte, Semi (40 percent) and Bold (60 percent) transmittance patterns.
As for the prices, they are not known for the Slovenian market, but we assume that they will be around 125,000 euros.
