Patrick Belem, Brazilian journalist and musician, will premiere a documentary about the life and traditions of the Huni Kuin tribe to the Slovenian public as part of the European presentation tour of the documentary film Eskawata Kayawai - The Spirit of Transformation. The film will be shown on August 11 in Maribor and on August 13 in Ljubljana.

The Huni Kuin tribe lives deep in the Amazon rainforest from where they spread the story of their cultural heritage, spirituality and the transformation they experienced as a community. The Huni Kuin tribe, the "True People", return to their wild and joyous ways after generations of colonization and loss.

Ninawa leader Pai da Mata and other members of his community take us through the cacophony of the forest, the medicine "nixipae" (ayahuasca), the beauty of everyday life, and what it takes to rediscover the roots of who they are. This powerful homecoming is an example to the world, proof that it is possible that we can all make the necessary changes to live in harmony again.

You can watch the film on August 11 at 7 p.m Vetrinjska dvor in Maribor and August 13 at 7 p.m at the Higher Vibration in Ljubljana.

After watching the film, there will be a discussion meeting with the author of the film, Patrick Bel, a musical performance with guitar and flute, a demonstration of tools for performing sacred ceremonies with traditional medicine, and an exhibition of photographs that bear witness to the life of this tribe. Voluntary contributions are collected to watch the film. The minimum recommended value of the contribution is €5, but you can of course contribute more if you feel like it or if you can afford it.
