Samsung is updating its galaxy of watches with a set of three watches in the new Galaxy Watch5 series, which somehow focuses on health, fitness and lifestyle. There are three models available – the Watch5 in 40mm and 44mm and the Watch5 Pro 45mm.
There are many novelties, but we will highlight the most important ones right away. This time, Samsung has updated the range of materials and uses sapphire crystal for the screen. This gives the 60% more resistance to damage - so I don't like scratches. All three watches are certified according to the standards this time 5ATM, IP68 and the standard MIL-STD-810H. At the same time, the Pro model is more comfortable, as it has a special strap that emphasizes use in sports activities.
The Galaxy Watch5 Pro represents the top of the range. Due to the sapphire crystal, the protruding frame that protects the screen, and the titanium case, it has more durability than the other watches in the “Watch5 series”. The sports band has a new D-clip design without holes and with the possibility of seamless length adjustment. So exactly as much as you need and you are comfortable. This also suggests that the watch will be chosen by those who absolutely want a watch that would accompany them during sports. In other words, they want a universal smartwatch that covers both worlds. Both the world of "style" and the world of sports.
The Watch Pro model also has the largest battery of all at 590 mAh. All watches of this year's generation also come with upgrades - that is, battery increases, capacities of 284 mAh for 40 mm and 410 mAh for 44 mm. With fast charging, you can get 8 hours of battery life in just 8 minutes. If you have half an hour, the battery will go up to 45%.
All three watches are powered by a chipset Exynos W920, which was also used in the Watch4 series. The memory configuration is also the same, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The new models come with the latest One UI Watch 4.5 software.
Only the Pro model allows you to submit a predefined route (in the form of a GPX file). Convenient for all hikers. Alternatively, you can record route information and share it with friends who might want to go on the same hike. There is excellent navigation that indicates turn by turn with just vibration, or in combination with voice guidance to stay on track. At the end of the day, the Track Back function will guide you to your starting point of the hike. Perfect for all hikers who want to keep discovering new mountain trails and recording them as your hiking journal.
Google Maps will soon be able to work on your watch even without a connection to your smartphone. This will impress everyone who really uses this app regularly. The clock is a real sensory factory. So you have built-in GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou receivers. Also compass, barometer, temperature sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and light sensors. While LTE connectivity is optional. All watches connect via the Bluetooth 5.2 protocol, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 a/b/g/n and somehow enable convenient NFC for payment.
