All fans of the BMW brand have been eagerly waiting for the moment when BMW will present the 3 and 4 series models, which carry a very special sign for BMW. The letter M, which always stands for sporting excellence and dynamism. This time already in the fifth generation. And for the first time in two different concepts. Introducing the M3 and M4.
With the launch of a new BMW M3 Limousine and a new one BMW M4 Coupé department BMW M reveals a new interpretation of the high-performance sports car - and conveys the philosophy BMW M into the fifth generation M3.
More than were made 40,000 examples of the BMW M3 Coupé fourth generation and now it is BMW M4 Coupé ready to continue this success story. Badge "M4” is a reference to the model series that provides the basis for the new M model – and for the first time the coupe will be presented as a four-door version. Logic dictates that the second one will be baptized BMW M3 Limousine.

Motorization M
The engine is the heart of everyone M model. The new turbocharged six-cylinder engine fitted to both new cars combines the advantages of a naturally aspirated high-revving engine with the advantages of turbocharger technology. A dedicated lightweight design concept means a weight saving of around 80 kg compared to the previous M3. BMW M3 and BMW M4 they transfer motorsport technology from the racetrack to the road. And for the transition, the two new models drove thousands of laps on the legendary North Loop of the Nürburgring - the most demanding race track in the world. Precise and passionate development work has resulted in the creation of two high-performance sports cars that set new standards in terms of overall concept, precision and agility.”
The high-revving in-line six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, newly developed for the new BMW M3 Sedan and the new BMW M4 Coupé, develops the maximum power 431 HP. Its peak torque of 550 Nm is available over a wide rev range and beats the previous BMW M3's recorded figures by approx. 40 percent. The redesigned engine also achieves a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions of around 25 percent. Both, the BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupé, accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (with optional 7-speed M DCT transmission).

In order to emphasize the racing character of both models in terms of the technical composition and precise tuning of the cars, the engineers worked closely with professional BMW Motorsport racers during the development phase. For example, drivers Bruno Spengler and Timo Glock who race in the championship DTM, participated in extensive testing and tuning of components on the North Loop of the Nürburgring.
