Ranking of the most and least reliable luxury SUVs

Colleagues at the British What Car? tackled the interesting topic of luxury SUV reliability. The result of the "action" highlighted the most and least reliable ones.

With the help of our British colleagues, we prepared a ranking for you and highlighted the three most reliable and the three least reliable luxury SUVs, or SUVs. Buying a luxury SUV is tempting especially because of the low price, when only these are used and a bit older. But this is precisely where the biggest trap is hidden, as it is easy to repair and maintain certain models extraordinary dear. However, these are cars that were worth a lot of money when new.

We'll start with cars that are considered good buys. Third place was narrowly missed by the Volkswagen Touareg, as it was overtaken by the Scandinavian Volvo XC90, which is reliable in what 75%. These are models that Volvo has produced over the years 2002 and 2015. Defects were reported on 23% vehicles and were most often linked to the climate system, brakes, power steering and engine electronics. The average cost of servicing the aforementioned errors may cost you less than 100 euros, and in some cases it will also climb over 1,000 euros.

He ended up in second place Range Rover Sport, from the year 2013 onwards. Although the Range Rover is known as a rugged vehicle that has had its fair share of problems in the past, the said model achieved a 75.6% reliability rating. Defects were detected 13%, but these were connected to practically all areas, from the gearbox, individual joints and engine electronics. As many as 2/3 of service services require servicing that is longer than a week, and the price of individual service services can also rise over 1,500 euros.

He found himself in first place BMW X5, which was produced over the years 2013 and 2018. It broke 29% of the cars covered by the survey, and 2/3 of the detected defects were fixed in less than a week. Most often, errors occurred in the exhaust system, air conditioning system and engine electronics. 20% service services were performed under the factory warranty, and the remaining services were requested during 100 and 1,500 euros payments.

These are the less pleasant, last places according to the criterion of reliability. He took the third place Land Rover Discovery, which was produced over the years 2004 and 2017. There were only reliable ones 45,7% vehicles that were included in the survey. More than half of the vehicles broke down, and 1/3 of the repairs cost more 1,000 euros. 27% the failure concerned the chassis, followed by the battery and the engine. The good news is that 1/4 of the defects can be fixed in less than a week.

It reached the penultimate place in the reliability ranking BMW X5, which was produced over the years 2007 and 2013. The level of reliability is 42,6%, but it broke 53% examples of the second generation luxury SUV. Brakes, engine and chassis need the most attention, and average services cost between 300 and 500 euros. V 9% breakdowns also cost the service over 1,500 euros. Even in the case of the BMW X5, most defects are fixed sooner than within a week.

It occupied an infamous place as the least reliable luxury SUV Porsche Macan, which is reliable in only 40.4%. There is no problem here in the defects that are around 36%, the problem arises with service costs. V 31% only this one will amount to more than 1,500 euros, and half the breakdowns will cost you between 200 and 750 euros. Only 15% repairs require servicing that would be longer than a week.
