These Christmas cookies are simple vanilla cookies covered in colorful holiday frosting.
Christmas vanilla cookies
Ingredients
- 225 g of softened butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract – 1 large egg
- 3 cups plain flour
- 3/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt

Directions
- Heat the oven to 180 degrees. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
- Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl until creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla, beat until the mixture is completely combined.
- Add the flour, baking powder and salt and start mixing slowly.
- Sprinkle the work surface with flour and roll out the dough. Pay attention to the thickness.
- Extrude the shapes with the cookie cutters and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets with a knife or spatula.
- Bake for 10 minutes until the cookies are golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely.
- In the meantime, prepare the sugar coating for the cookies. In a special bowl, use an electric mixer to mix the egg white, sugar and lemon juice to get a thick sugar mixture. Add food coloring for colored frosting. Decorate the cookies.
