Recipe: Everyone thinks sponge cake is for cake, but…

Pancake cake

A photo of a cake, or rather a biscuit for the cake, has been circulating on the Internet, but when we take a closer look at the photo, we realize that it is not actually a biscuit. It is something very similar, also made from eggs, flour and with the help of oil, but it is far from a sponge cake. Guess what it is?

Everyone thinks it's in the photo cake sponge cake, but it's really about pancake cake! The advantage of this type of cake is that it does not require the knowledge of making sponge cakes, which many people avoid because they like to "fall down", but only the knowledge of making pancakes.

Recipe for pancakes (for 4 people):

Ingredients for pancakes:

  • 2 eggs
  • half a teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 dl of mineral water
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of oil

The process of making pancakes and pancake cake

Using a whisk or an electric mixer, mix the milk, eggs, sugar, oil and salt. While mixing, slowly add flour a teaspoon at a time. Mix until all the ingredients are mixed into a smooth dough. This should end up being fluid but not watered down. For the finishing touch, add mineral water. The mass is then left to stand for about half an hour. After the time has passed, put some oil on the pan and pour a ladleful of dough onto it. When it separates from the edge, turn the pancake over and bake it on the other side. We then need a filling for the pancake cake, which can be something as simple as a chocolate-hazelnut spread or jam, but you can also prepare something more complicated (for example, mascarpone with chocolate). You apply the filling to the surface of the pancake and stack them one on top of the other. Have a good run!
